In high-performance computing (HPC) and technical computing, success depends on the speed at which data is acquired, processed and distributed. These environments store vast amounts of data that is utilized for high-bandwidth programs and complex application processing such as computational analysis, data-intensive research, rich media, 3-D computer modeling, seismic processing, data mining and large-scale simulation. Demands of multiple terabytes per second are required to minimize the I/O cycles of these large-scale clusters.

The Xanadu 220 solution comes in two host connectivity options; either direct InfiniBand [8 x DDR ports] or Fibre-Channel [16 x 8Gb FC] ports. This gives HPC users configuration options that fit their individual needs.

The 4U drive enclosure supports up to 60 SATA drives, reducing operational costs up to 35% and footprint up to 65% for capacity-intensive applications. The 3U drive enclosure supports intermixing high-performance SSD and FC drives with high-capacity SATA drives.

KEY FEATURES

Sustained Performance - Up to 6.4 GB/s and 170,000 IO/s

Redundancy - Redundant components with automated I/O path failover, no single point of failure.

Serviceability - 4U 60-drive dense enclosure with frontloading trays for easy serviceability.

Persistent Cache Backup - Data in cache is continually mirrored, so that it can be restored in the event of a controller failure. In the event of a power outage, batteries supply power to the controllers until data in the cache is stored in NVRAM, so it will be available when power is restored.

CacheSafeTM - The Xanadu 220 protects write caches in controllers and in individual disk drives.

Pre-Read Parity Checking - This feature allows storage arrays to optionally check the consistency of RAID redundancy prior to returning data for host read requests, thereby maintaining data integrity.

Encryption Services - Combines key management and drive-level encryption for data security.

DACstore Technology - DACstore stores configuration metadata on every drive, providing an additional level of SAN redundancy.

Proactive Drive Health Monitoring (PHDM) - PHDM technology seeks to identify faulty of “unhealthy” drives so that data can be stored in another location before the disk fails.

Proactive Drive Channel Monitoring (PDCM) - PDCM monitors the health of data paths to and from drives and can proactively fail over data from an unhealthy path.

Storage Manager Software - Storage Manager software provides a powerful, yet easy to use, GUI for administering the Xanadu 220 storage system. With this management software, storage administrators are able to achieve maximum utilization of capacity through extensive configuration flexibility, custom performance tuning, and a variety of replication options.

Storage Manager software offers fully-integrated features which extend its unparalleled functionality and create even more powerful storage. With multiple replication offerings (volume snapshot, volume copy, and remote volume mirror), you can choose the method that best meets your data utilization and protection requirements.
